High school students receive hands-on EMS training in Pharr
Over 100 high school students participated Tuesday in an all-day training event for emergency medical services.
Students participated in CPR training, stop the bleed instruction, real-world EMS scenarios, and a live panel discussion with active EMS professionals.
“This gives opportunities for young people who are in high school who don't know what they want to do yet… an opportunity to expose them to the career,” Pharr EMS Chief Danny Ramirez said.
The EMS career training event was part of a collaboration with the city of Pharr and the Region One Education Service Center, according to a news release.
The event was the first of its kind for both entities, and was made possible through a grant.
