The La Joya Coyotes are coming off of a tough injury season. Their priority this year is to stay healthy. La Joya has their starting quarterback returning along with some key players. The coyotes are hoping to go far this season in district play.

"We have a good run game and with Owen behind as quarterback, it's going to give us an opportunity to open the ball a little bit more," said La Joya head football coach, Reuben Farias.

The Coyotes have a new defensive coordinator this year. Head coach Farias believes the new strategies will help improve the d-line on their agressiviness.

"It's been pretty good, we've been practicing a lot of hitting that's for sure, we've been practicing a lot of tackle drills, trying to strip off the ball overall being as physical as we can," said La Joya senior middle linebacker, Niko Garza."

The Coyotes kick off their season against Brownsville Rivera on August 29.
