Weslaco's Dayla Hinojosa is signed with Midland College on Tuesday afternoon. 

"It means a lot to me, I've put in the work so for me to have the ability to play at a college level just means a lot and it shows my improvement," Hinojosa said about her signing. 

Hinojosa holds the record for most hits in a 6A State Tournament game with four and most total hits at the State Tournament overall with five. 

She's also a three-time first team all-district outfielder. She spent all four years at Weslaco with her dad as part of the coaching staff.

"It is kind of nice just to be dad and not have to be dad and coach at the same time. That will definitely be something different but something that I'll look forward to as well," said Weslaco's first assistant softball coach, Daniel Hinojosa.
